Mee Mee was born in Burma, and left her country after soldiers continued to persecute citizens and burn villages. For four years, her and her family continuously moved and hid in the wilderness. They finally settled in a refugee camp on the boarder of Thailand. Opportunities are limited or nonexistent in the refugee camps and if they chose to leave the camp to seek work outside they would be put in jail.
Mee Mee arrived in the US in 2010 with her husband, four sons, and one daughter. She wants to rebuild a new life here and is now more hopeful for her children's education and future. She likes making candles, because candles give everyone light.
