Many candles out there are laden with harmful stuff you don’t want to breathe in. You can usually smell it… that hint of something unpleasant. You’d love the candle if it just didn’t have a slight chemical note.
The simple truth is that like most things, you get what you pay for. There’s no way around it - cheap candles are made with cheap ingredients. That’s why they’re cheap!
What goes into a candle goes into your home
We skip the additive that make many candles so overpowering because it’s a byproduct of petroleum refining. We also never dye our wax (bad stuff!) and our scents are free of phthalates, parabens and the like. And of course we never use wicks containing lead or zinc because, well, that’s just crazy... who want to burn metal in your home?
Clean burning candles, made by hand
Our candles are entirely paraffin-free, handmade with natural coconut and soy waxes from plant-based sources, cotton wicks, and premium fragrance and essential oils. It’s pretty simple, and a lot healthier. Take it from people who light candles all the time in our own homes.
The same goes for our diffusers and room sprays. When we set out to make our first diffuser, we researched what goes into the most popular brands. We quickly discovered that they all contain VOCs... the same chemicals used to speed paint drying. Our thought was, if every state restricts VOCs because of the harmful effects, why would we make diffusers with them?
Non-toxic diffusers, blended by hand
We spent months searching for the healthiest ingredients to make reed diffusers and room sprays. The result is a base that is 100% natural with no phthalates, parabens, sulfates, VOCs or petroleum. It's entirely toxin-free, eco-friendly and biodegradable. Does it cost a little more? Yes. Can it disperse scent as quickly as its chemical-laden counterparts? Almost!
Prioritizing health and safety, yours and ours
Our candles, diffusers and room sprays are moderately scented. We could make them stronger, but then we would be using the same bad stuff others do and that's just not who we are. Instead, we prefer to say we make moderately scented candles that burn cleanly.
