Our home is where we tend to spend most of our time, so it feels good to fill it with wonderful people, good vibes and decor we love. Think of all the time we put into deciding which color to paint the bedroom or where to place that favorite painting. Every coffee table, comforter, candle and throw is a reflection of who you are, so imagine how good it feels if those also reflect your values.
With the Earth Hour and Earth Day movements, more conscious consumers are speaking up to show they care how a product impacts our natural resources, the climate and the environment. When it comes to ethical shopping, you can find incredible eco-minded and sustainable home decor brands out there that offer gorgeous artisan-made eco friendly home products. One incredible way to make a difference for artisans and be kind to the planet is by supporting eco friendly home decor brands.
To get you started, we put together some of our favorite socially-conscious and sustainable home brands that give back. Since Prosperity Candle's founding, we've believed in designing beautiful decor that gives back. Enjoy having a sustainable home that is chic, stylish and ethical!
1. Parachute
With its beautiful collection of eco-conscious bedding, pillows, bath essentials, and mattresses, Parachute offers modern home decor that is ethically-curated and designed to benefit both you and the environment. Their products are responsibly handcrafted by artisans in Portugal, Turkey, Italy, and the U.S. with 100% Egyptian cotton or 100% Turkish cotton. We love that with every Venice bedding set sold, they donate one!
2. Armadillo & Co.
From weavers' hands to your home, Armadillo & Co. brings luxury, warmth and good deed into their ethically handmade rugs. Using natural and sustainable fibers, their rugs respect generations of intricate weaving traditions with a unique style and twist. With every purchase they are committed to "lie lightly on this earth" and support living wages and fair trade practices for artisan communities in India. They also strive to end child labor in the carpet industry with Care & Fair.
3. The Joinery
Of course, a consciously styled home isn't complete without a few pieces of solid woodwork to admire. The Joinery is an incredible wood shop based out of Portland, Oregon that creates intricately designed and eco-friendly furniture. Each dining table, bed, coffee table and loveseat is handcrafted with sustainable forest resources to give back to the environment. Look for your builder's signature on yours!
4. Prosperity Candle
Yes, that’s us! Every Prosperity Candle is handpoured here in our studio with an all natural soy and coconut wax blend, a pure cotton wick, and never any dyes or enhancers. Being B-Corp certified means investing in people and protecting the planet. Each candle is poured with love by a woman artisan who resettled to the U.S. as a refugee, and is made with healthy ingredients for your home.
5. Eskayel
Gorgeous fine art and prints merge with eco-friendly and sustainable beauty at New York-based textile studio Eskayel. Their thoughtful collections of spring accessories, flora rugs and wallpapers strive to make as little impact on this earth with water-based pigment inks, sustainably sourced materials, and eco-conscious techniques. They donate 1% of their sales to environmental organizations with One Percent for the Planet.
6. Viva Terra
Viva Terra is your one-stop shop for recycled and sustainable kitchenware, bath accessories, furniture, and indoor and outdoor pieces. Browse their surprisingly expansive collections of handcrafted artisan items or recycled pieces that are made in the U.S. You can feel good knowing each piece is ethically-made to reflect a respect for artisans and the planet. We really dig Viva Terra.

Love this collection of sustainable home decor brands. I’ve always loved The Citizenry and I’m excited to check out Prosperity Candle. Please check out our website www.saltboxsash.com for a beautiful selection of fair trade home decor pieces handcrafted by artisans in over 25 countries.
Gorgeous candles and great information! One addition for sustainable decor- look into local upcycled decor shops! I’d recommend Framed Chic (https://framedchic.com) for one-of-a-kind upcycled decor and framed art that is kind to the planet. Framed Chic is based in the Pacific NW (Tacoma, WA). Support small when you can!
Great list here. I’m excited to explore some of them that I hadn’t heard of before.
Shameless plug here, but I’d also include my online boutique (souksdumonde.com) for handmade rugs and textiles. I work directly with artisans by supporting their craft and investing in their community.
Beautiful things! Great work! Look us up on www.owngrownn.com
Could be included in this list. We sell in USA through our warehouse based at Wisconsin.
