"I miss my childhood home, but am happy to be living and  working in the U.S. with other Burmese refugees."

Born in Burma, Khin Ma was forced to flee her home in 1998 with her husband. For more than eight years, they lived in a refugee camp in Thailand where three of their four children were born. Unable to return, they became eligible for resettlement and arrived in the U.S. in 2008. Today Khin Ma and her family live in West Springfield, Massachusetts where they are building a new life. Though she misses her childhood home, Khin Ma is happy to be living and working alongside other Burmese families here.
